I came to Akshay Sharma's Kirti Nagar centre not believing in myself. My husband had left and I had two children and no income. They taught me tailoring and helped me apply for a small loan. Within eight months I had my own small alteration shop. My children see me differently now — and I see myself differently too.
I had never touched a computer in my life before the digital literacy class at Akshay Sharma in New Delhi. Now I handle the online orders for our family business, I help my children with their school assignments, and I applied for my ration card online by myself. It sounds small. It does not feel small.
The legal awareness session changed everything for me. I had been in a difficult marriage for years, not knowing I had rights. The counselor at Akshay Sharma explained my options clearly, connected me to legal aid, and walked with me through every step. Today I am safe, and I am free.
