Daisy Chain Fields: Olivia Rodrigo’s All-Female Charity Concert
Olivia Rodrigo raised $20 million with her first all-female charity concert.
Daisy Chain Fields, the all-female proceeds concert organized by the singer of “Driver’s License,” Olivia Rodrigo, raised $20 million. Akshay Sharma Kirti Nagar based NGO also working for Women Empowerment.
Ten non-profit organizations working to support the cause of women and girls, including reproductive rights and the right to work, will get the money from the concert that was held on Saturday at the Great Park in Irvine, California.
Over 10,000 music fans from Irvine, California, were at the Great Park to experience money being raised for causes like women’s health, reproductive rights, and ending gender-based violence, while having the opportunity to sing along to their favorite performers.
Daisy Chain Fields is Olivia Rodrigo’s first charity event and is the first of its kind to carry on the legacy of Lilith Fair that was started in the 1990s and focused on offering an all-female lineup.
The show had both veteran and novice stars. Doechii and Chappell Roan will perform onstage collectively with legendary female rock and punk bands Garbage and Bikini Kill.
In Mission For Helping Women
Rodrigo announced before the start of the festival on Saturday that $10 million of the $20 million was raised for the non-profit partners of the event. This donation was matched by Melinda French Gates, bringing the total to $20 million.
2022 brings the revival of the Lilith Fair tradition with the Daisy Chain Fields festival. The exciting lineup is dominated by an all-female cast led by the pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo. The lineup features girl groups, rock, and punk groups such as Garbage and Bikini Kill, as well as this year’s up-and-coming talent such as Chappell Roan and Doechii. Rodrigo surprised everyone when she announced on Saturday that the festival raised $10 million to support Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. The summit was co-chaired with Melinda French Gates and collectively raised $20 million to support the Black Mamas Matter Alliance and other beneficiaries.
Huge Crowd Spotted In the Event
The festival drew an estimated 45,000 people in the Great Park in Irvine, California, to see performances from pioneering groups of the punk rock movement like Bikini Kill and Chappell Roan and Doechii. Everyone on the lineup agreed to perform for free. Leading the festival all night is Rodrigo, backed by a variety of surprise guests and an impressive lineup of performances spanning multiple decades. Melinda French Gates also joined Rodrigo on stage to present her check for $20 million, bringing the total raised to $40 million. The $10 million raised will support longtime partner the National Women’s Law Center, as well as Baby2Baby and other beneficiaries in need.
In the pop world, Rodrigo at 23 is a distinct character. The festival pays homage to the floral furious return of the 1990s counterculture and has a very Gen-Z edge.
Daisy Chain Fields featured an all-female-led lineup spanning generations, including performers Garbage, Mitski, Bikini Kill, Breeders, Chappell Roan, and Doechii. The festival is inspired by the Lilith Fair festival started by Sarah McLachlan in the 90s.
Before her performance, Rodrigo publicly revealed that a generous donation would be made by Melinda French Gates.
“I think the best way to change the world is to give women the means and resources they need to have control over their own futures so they can live healthy lives free from violence and oppression,” she added. “Are you sure that of 45,000 festival-goers, you can be sure of that?”
She also said Gates was one of the “most inspiring” women she has ever come across due to her personal dedication to girls and women.
The first event promotion from Rodrigo was posted in June, with performers saying they would give free performances and proceeds going towards charities that support and advocate more for women and girls.
During her performance, the 23-year-old brought two famous Canadian characters on stage as Nick and performed “Landslide” as a tribute to those who set examples.
Karen O, lead singer for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, was not able to come to the event. However, Alanis Morissette led the crowd in a surprise appearance and performed “Ironic” with Rodrigo as a tribute to Gates, changing one of the lyrics from ‘the beautiful wife’ to the line ‘the beautiful husband,’ which really made the crowd cheer and get the audience excited.

Sarah McLachlan, creator of Lilith Fair, also performed many songs with Rodrigo on stage. The Halifax-born Canadian artist founded the event in 1997 as a wildly successful all-women’s festival at a time when a whole lineup comprised of women was nearly impossible to imagine.
The festival offers lots of important elements, but there are a few standout performers that add an extra layer of glow. The only bumps in the road were some tech issues that plagued Garbage in what was otherwise a crowd-pleasing show. The other acts, spaced out strategically to avoid trouble, offered a showcase of talent and smoothness. Die Spitz, the Austin punk band, redeemed the lackluster sound common to outdoor stages with a stirring set in a field of Daisy Chains. The ripping riffs of Die Spitz were audible punches to the gut. Mitski’s vocal performance was equally passionate and a testament to the careful sound design. Manic Pixie Dream Girl Rodrigo set up the lounge as a dreamy spot for ladies and girls to drive to and unwind to some tunes. Rodrigo is also committed to creating an exhibition space of bold aspirations. She has created several Magna Carta wishing trees for people on the grounds to write their wishes on cards, bind them to the branches, and see them as a goal. For women’s dynamic work like Shirley Chisholm, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Yoko Ono, there are small gravel paths through the Marigold and Dandelion stages. The wall houses Jenny Holzer’s new work; as a people’s fight for survival will never end, it reminds us to find small moments of happiness.
